"PA SECURITY ROCKED BY AL QAIDA ATTACKS"

GAZA CITY [MENL] -- The Palestinian Authority security forces have been rocked by Al Qaida suicide strikes.

PA officials said two of the 56 casualties in the Al Qaida suicide strikes in Jordan were senior security representatives. They said four Palestinians were killed in the suicide bombings in Amman on Nov. 9.

The Palestinians killed in the blasts included PA military intelligence chief Gen. Bashir Nafie, who headed the organization in the West Bank. Nafie was said to be in Amman for talks with Jordanian security officials.

Nafie runs one of the smaller PA security agencies, with about 1,000 officers. Military intelligence has dealt mostly with espionage and dissidence and many of its officers were active in the Palestinian war against Israel.
