God preserved his word for us in the King James Bible.
Although attached to the 1611 printing, the apocrypha
was clearly marked in it as being non-Biblical. Since
that time the apocrypha was dropped completely, which
is where it belongs. These books are only promoted by
those that are interested in validating false
doctrines (such as prayers for the dead, purgatory,
etc.).

Today we have our King James Bible to read and
believe. All of its words (every single one of them
without exception) is to be accepted and believed by
Christians because we do not live by bread alone, but
by "every word" that proceeds from the mouth of God.
EVERY WORD.

Most of the mythological stories in the apocrypha are
clearly fictional. Others books show undue attention
to describing devils, etc. The Holy Ghost affirmed the
true Bible to true believers long before any official
"cannon" picked the Bible. These councils merely
ratified what the Body of Christ already knew, that
the apocryphal books were bogus.

We are not ignorant of the Devil's devices: he always
attacks the word of God. He adds, subtracts, and
questions. This is why people with NIV's and NKJV's
and all the other "new" Bibles are confused. They have
tainted Bibles that satan has managed to add to,
subtract from, and fill with questioning footnotes.
The occultic background of Westcott, Hort, Schaff,
Kittle, et al, confirms who was the subtle power at
work.
