"THE PRICE OF LETTING GO"

You have been on your journey and like a child
have removed your hand from mine to seek
after all that is attractive to your eyes and
your ears.
Come back I say to you, you stubbornly ignore.
I run after you in circles as you laugh at
the freedom afforded you.
Still I chase. I stop for an instant and hold my peace
as you approach the intersection of your choice.
You must need me enough to come back to place
your hand back into mine.
You look for me for approval before you cross and you
receive none.
An object approaching at lightning speed is outside your line
of distracted sight. You proceed and in my heart I beckon, Don't do it!
You glance my direction and receive a stern but loving glance as I
hope you realize...only by coming back to hold my hand will you
find safety, peace and comfort.
There is no freedom outside of me. You are a fool to think otherwise!
The earth in all her glory, still in her turmoil and pain knows
that to jump from my hand would be a fatal mistake.
If in my palm I can keep chaos from the universe, can I not keep chaos from
your life as well?
Place your hand in mine...walk with me and I will protect you from....

....a fate worse than death.
