Hello Doves,

Leaving my apartment this morning I pondered, after seeing the dance on my lightpost, why are moth's attracted to light?
Are we christians, moths, and are attracted to light as well? YES!
A moth will dance and seek entrance to a source of light for hours and hours not realizing it is bumping into glass, flying into fire or approaching the ever tempting, bug zapper. They perish often times because they are not afraid of light and will do anything to bask in it's presence. We christians, should and do take this attitude. We are not afraid of the "zapper" if that is where THE LORD ALMIGHTY wants us. It is not up to us to say, "Why am I here?" Better yet we are to say, "Here I am!" A direct reversal of that preceding phrase...We as christians should be proud to dance around the light that is OUR SAVIOR JESUS(YESHUA)CHRIST!
We shall not worry about our destination, our trip or the outcome. We need to quit trying to do THE HOLY SPIRIT'S job because believe you me, HE is quite capable and can see in ALL directions. We cannot bring in and need to check our prideful observations at the door. HE doesn't need our input! Here is some idea of why light is so attractive to the moth and why cockroaches are repelled by it.

To understand this phenomenon, you need to know about phototaxis. Photo organism's automatic movement toward or away from light. Cockroaches are of a negatively phototactic organism. You've probably noticed how they scurry to dark corners and crevices when you illuminate their late-night snacking party in the kitchen. Moths are positively phototactic. Who do we know who was the first to act as negatively phototactic organisms?  Adam and Eve "hid" when GOD came walking through the Garden of Eden after they had eaten of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. They were convicted in their sin at the mere presence of THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY. We are too! We scurry like the negatively phototactic creatures who seek to hide when pure light presents itself. Pure light exposes and makes naked our very own iniquity. What did Adam say, when GOD said, "Where are you?" He said, we hid because we were naked. And God replies, Who told you, you were naked? Adam's true reponse paraphrased was, Your light convicted us of our iniquitous state. We are now sinners and have been exposed, are naked and ashamed.  Did God ask the question because he wanted to know their location? NO! He wanted to convict!! He wanted a response.  Did God ask Cain "Where is your brother?" because he lost track of him? NO! He wanted to convict!! We are exposed and convicted by HIS light, the first thing we do is run and cover ourselves. How do we cover? We hide through blaming others, blaming life situations and how we were brought up. Adam and Eve blamed each other, GOD and the serpent as well. Everyone but themselves. We as christians, when we stumble and fall need to stand strong and face THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY when we have done wrong...but it is against the very negative phototactic nature of original sin that we carry. This is the very nature/flesh that we need to crucify, pick up our cross and follow HIM!

When we choose to follow and give all authority to OUR LORD JESUS(YESHUA)CHRIST, HE makes us a POSITVELY PHOTOTACTIC ORGANISM that loves the presence of light and will do anything to bask in it, regardless of the consequences. He is our Great Lamp! Our only Salvation....Fly towards him and dance!
