"WE SHALL BE..."

He used to sit below our branches, enloying the breeze
of the day. He loved our shade and the music we made
with our rustling branches. He loved our glow as the moon
reflected the light down to us. We had not light of our own.
He took naps and rested with us. He taught his inner circle of
followers, as we listened. He sang songs and played with rocks
and sticks, using them as examples. We wanted to play too.
We sat back observing, for our time had not yet come.
His time did come and he left us...When will you come back to
us? We whispered on the wind. He stated gently, "I shall be suspended
between heaven and earth and then you shall see my Salvation."
We knew not what he meant. Come stay and be our King, we pondered.
And He knew..."I will return and bring you to myself. You must occupy
until then"....

The storm set in and our fruit was tossed about by indecision and
impatience. They beat our branches with sticks and stepped on the fruit we willingly
gave. They gathered us and we waited. He will surely come now that we are
tormented by those who care not who we belong too.
They separated us and pressed us. Our stony heart was expelled and our flesh
was pressed further. We can take no more! Where is our Messiah? Give us your
strength! We cried. They poured our spirit oil into broken pieces of
pottery. Despite the cracks, we lost not one drop. A linen wick of righteousness was
placed within. As the storm continued, Our Savior spoke forth, "Let there be
light!" And He saw that it was good. He replied to us his faithful, "You shall now be a
light for all nations. You shall be a beacon of hope to those in darkness. You have now
been made in my image." We joyfully flickered our flames and sang in the
darkness. We knew he would not forget us. We are his beloved, We are...
His Mount of Olives.
