The Europeans are making a reference to Europa and the Bull of Greek mythology - Europa symbolizing the EU.
 
This is an interesting hint / connection to the  woman sitting upon a scarlet coloured beast of Rev. 17. that connection hadn't occurred to me before, bet it hasn't occurred to them either.
