The Young Will Never Know

The young will never know those stabs of conscience
at 2 a.m.
The many times I could have .... but didn't.

The omissions come like a jolt of lightning -----
judge, prosecutor, jury... all in one.

My mind has no defense --- I'm guilty !
The remorse eats like a canker worm.
The sentence is given : labeled !

" Today, you are given another chance."
