They are at it again! The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), that is.
The ACLU consistently battles against Christian expression and religious liberties and against law and order.
Just today we read that an ACLU court case has forced the Pentagon to ban military bases from sponsoring Boy Scout troops -- because the Boy Scouts believe in God! Can you believe it? See http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2004/11/15/181019.shtml
Many people do not know about the communist roots of the ACLU, which my research uncovered a few years ago. The organization was founded by a man named Roger Baldwin. Born in Boston in 1884, Baldwin would come under socialist and communist influence early in life. In 1935, Baldwin wrote, "I am for socialism... I seek the social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class... communism is, of course, the goal."
The name of the ACLU is deceptive. It does not mean what it says. Baldwin once wrote, "Civil liberties, like Democracy, are only useful as tools for social change. Political democracy as such a tool is obviously bankrupt."
The ACLU systemically attacks religious freedoms by hand-picking their cases to appear before leftist Federal judges (appointed by leftist politicians) whom they sometimes helped get appointed in order to set legal precedent. Their cases are often a sham.
Reclaim America, of Coral Ridge Ministries, says, "Never before in the history of this nation has any organization done more to promote moral decay as has the ACLU. For over 75 years the ACLU has steadily blurred the clear distinction between liberty and license and feverishly worked to undermine the Christian and moral heritage of our nation."

Thankfully, many Christian legal defense groups have arisen in recent years to fight the ACLU. An outstanding coalition of most of the major groups is the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF), founded by a group of Christian leaders. In the 1990s I was on the board of directors of the ADF, which so far has been involved with 25 amazing victories before the U.S. Supreme Court. See http://www.alliancedefensefund.org/ .
