More free Bible downloads

Dear friends:

In my my message of November 9, I advised of free Bible software available at www.FreeBibleSoftware.com .

Later, different people told me that there is another good free source at http://www.e-sword.net/ .

This looks outstanding, and instead of having to order a free CD and paying for the shipping, you can download it right from the Web site.  In fairness, however, www.FreeBibleSoftware.com has resources that e-sword does not have.  But e-sword has many great freebies!

E-sword includes many Bible translations, commentaries, dictionaries, graphics, and other materials, even the Jewish-Roman historian Josephus.

These resources are a great treasure of knowledge.  With what I already had, today I counted that I now have 14 Bible translations on my computer, plus numerous reference books!  In dissecting difficult passages, I often compare many translations to see how the linguists translate the words.  I also consult lexicons.  I do not agree with the King James-only folks who claim that the KJ version is the final word, although I love and use the KJV, even though written in 400-year-old English.  The final, inspired word is the original Hebrew and Greek manuscripts and I want to know what they say.  These resources help.

Be blessed,

Jim
