Gino....
I had to read your wonderful piece twice. Yes...all that we do should be completely submitted and done as into the Lord. That includes all days.
This is a weighty subject and that's because we as the Body of Christ blend into the world so well, it's a wonder if Christ is seen at times at all. My dad used to say that if he were brought up before a court for being a Christian, he hoped they would find enough evidence to convict him.
When the church was 1st formed, Even Paul commending the Bereans for searching the scriptures to see if what He preached about Christ was correct. That scripture was the Torah and rest of the Old Testament. The Lord said that all of His Covenants are ever before Him. Even today in the United States the farmers rest part of their fields every 7th year. God's Word is the same, as is He yesterday, today and forever. In PS 138:2 David declares His Word even above His Name. Heaven and earth will pass away but My Word will not pass away.
If you examine the Covenants given Noah, Abraham and His descendants, to King David and ultimately to Christ, one builds on the other.
We as Chrstians can say that we are no longer meant to live under the law. The the law means "Instruction".Do we then throw out the rest of God's 10 Commands? How about the book of Proverbs. The Bible teaches that "all the word is for instruction and edifying".
Christ says of adultery that the law says the act was to be judged but the Kingdom of God says the "Thought". Where there is liberty there is also greater responsibility. When I was a child I would act like a child but would be judged accordingly. As an adult, we put away childish things and take on the Mind of Christ. Again...if we walk in the Spirit we will not accomplish the things of the flesh. OK...I've taken a slight detour.
There is a difference between legalism and obedience. Legalism is performed because it is mandatory and obedience "should" have at the core a desire to give, to please and bring honor. Now you can tithe with a hard heart or with a heart of thankfulness and you can honor the Lord on the Sabbath the same way. Or not keep it.
This subject is more involved today because bad teaching has moved into the body. We think Old Testament.....that's the Law and we are no longer under the law. But are we still under His instruction? Has God somehow changed so much that when we stand before Him we can say to Him your Words for thousands of years are no longer valid. I took the ones of your Commandments I thought valid and kept only those. The Bible in the New Testament says that we are His if we love His Commandments.
Tricky...huh? We have but one life to live Gino. One. We have an eternity yet ahead. I personally have decided to walk in obedience as I personnaly walk before a Holy God, to fear Him and walk in the liberty that He gives, and to walk that others might see Him. Everyone in this world must give an account of his/her own life. All I want is to somehow honor Him and be obedient in the process. I want to be among the few that are worthy to enter through the gate and be welcomed home.
To simplify what I've said. I don't want to steal from God. His time, His tithe, His Day or His Glory. None of those are mine to touch. I have walked with the Lord for over 50 years and during that time have hurt Him and angered Him and quite frankly....I don't want to do that any more. He is precious beyond words to express. All I want is Him. I don't want to try justifying to God when I stand before Him what I did. I want to do and be that He might be pleased.
I'm sure this will start a fire storm but they are the last from me.
Blessings on you dear brother. Steve W2
