"The last salpinx"

Hello, John and Doves,

Given the vast number of recent earthquakes, it is interesting to contemplate birth pangs [will they never end!?!?] over against the phrase, "the Last Trump."

What is often overlooked is the Koine Greek word translated to the King James English word, "trump."  That word, transliterated into English letters is "salpinx," spelled in the Greek, σάλπιγξ.

This word, salpinx, Strong's G4536, is translated, "trump."  However, it [according to the Lexicon on Blue Letter Bible] probably comes from G4535, through the idea of quavering or reverberation.

Bringing to the forefront the ideas of earthquakes and birth pangs, we can see that Jesus might have been talking about the last aftershock, or the last weird happening, or whatever.  Clearly, there is to be somewhat of a calm before the storm.

Keep looking up!  Maranatha!
