don't forget Matthew 25:8 which says, "And the foolish said unto the
wise, Give us of your oil, for our lamps are gone out." If their lamps
went out, they must have had oil (Holy Spirit) because a lamp going out
is different than a lamp that never had oil to begin with, but perhaps they
They made the
statement their lamps have gone out, but you're assuming they're
telling the truth. These people are clearly desperate. Let me show you
why I say this...
Matthew 25:12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
If they were once His sheep, Jesus has known them. He cannot say I know you not, if He knows them. He would be lying.
Matthew 24:48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
Matthew 7:17-18 Even
so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree
bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit,
neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
An evil tree,
is not a born again christian. This person in Matthew 24:48 is
christian in name only. Not a regenerate born again, new creation,
Spirit filled Christian.
Matthew 7:21-23 Not
every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom
of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in
thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done
many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew
you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Here is a
classic example of people who are christian in name only, but are not
born again. They have religion, but they are not saved. Jesus says to
them "I never knew you", Jesus knows His sheep, He cannot say "I never
knew you" if He once knew you. That would be a blatant and obvious lie.
Hope this helps, Good Day
