I too mourn for the little ones so callously torn from their mothers' womb......
I am an RN by profession, now retired. I was an OB nurse in the USAF for a while, so have such a love for the babies--and their families, too! :)
I volunteer as a counselor for a crisis pregnancy center, doing pregnancy tests, and counseling the young women after the test. I have the chance to present the Gospel to them, too, if they are willing, and I especially love that!
I hear this so often from them:
"Well, I could never give my baby up...I couldn't do that to MY BABY, so I'll abort him instead. It's not the right time to have a child. I'll have the child later, maybe...." (They could never have that child later...)
I ask her to think for a moment--
"Would you rather know that your baby is celebrating his 1st birthday, with balloons, and chocolate cake all over his face---with his loving family,
or that my baby WOULD have been 1-yr-old?"
Unfortunately they sometimes come in with a mindset to abort, no matter what we say, as we present the pro-life reasons, if they don't want to parent, "to make an adoption plan" (the preferred wording)
We know that our Lord, the creator of these little ones, has them in His Hands, and that they are in great joy in His Presence (Thank You, Lord!)..and that is our only comfort in this.
I had presented prenatal growth and development in the schools, using a slide program and music, and --for a whilke--grew very troubled--espevcially in seeing the photos of the aborted little ones. Then God spoke to my heart: "They're all with Me, SAFE now in Me"
That is my peace...
David was a shepherd boy and then a great king, but he knew nothing about DNA ...
Yet in Ps 139 (the "pro-lifers psalm") he describes it so beautifully:
Doesn't the shape of it, with genes enwrapping it, resemble a needle with thread or yarn?
God knits us all together--with DNA
Our Lord is confirming what we both write, Adelissa---
When I went to BibleGateway.com, this was the verse for the day!! :)
Verse of the day
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” - Psalm 139:13-14
.I would add a little more, leaving out the end, when David asked the Lord to slay the wicked...(Somehow it doesn't seem to belong with the beautifully- worded lines above... :) )
For the director of music. Of David. A psalm.
1 You have searched me, LORD,
and you know me.
2 You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3 You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
4 Before a word is on my tongue
you, LORD, know it completely.
5 You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.
7 Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,”
12 even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.
13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
17 How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God!
How vast is the sum of them!
18 Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand—
when I awake, I am still with you.
I read this to every woman with a positive test, so that they know that our Lord is our Creator, that she and her BF or husband played a part, but her little one is under his or her Father's care and design. We offer post-abortion counseling, and many regret their abortion, grieving for that child.
BTW, I had an 80 yr old woman come into my previous center. She had had an (illegal) abortion 50 yrs earlier. She was still troubled by the loss of her child, and went throught hte post abortion counseling
We have an new donated ultrasound (Thanks, Lord!), and offer a free ultrsound to any woman with a positive test. Sometimes, if it's early, they see "their little peanut" (a curved little bump, with a yolk sac next to him, to feed him until the placenta is formed at 12 weeks)
They can see the beating heart (it beats by day 21), and sometimes hear it, too!
If the baby is 8 weeks along, or more, he is easily seen, waving his arms and legs, and at 10 weeks is really active (if awake)
We have had at least 4 Moms change their minds on abortion so far!
(Scroll down for an actual, moving ultrasound of a 10-wk-old...
Enlarge it, if small, by hitting link, just below)
Pray with us, all Doves, for the women who abort their babies, for centers who have had funding cuts in these difficult times, for those who-through counseling and/or ultrasound--change their minds about aborting!
Come quickly, Lord Jesus!
'Watching the skies!
In His great Love,
Jan in AZ
