"To Robin MacAhan "Pretend""

Dear Robin;

I don't know how many noticed, or were effected by your letter, but I hope they will remember it in the coming months and beyond. I am including your original post at the bottom of this page hoping more will see it.

What you have written is so simple yet one of the most profound letters I have read on 5 Doves. Intimacy with the Lord is what we all cry out for from deep within. That kind of closeness is there for the asking, Our Lord rewards those who diligently seek him. Many Christians do not have what you have, for different reasons. Some do not feel worthy, and have not truly understood the Grace of God that is available through Christ, to all who will accept it simply by faith, realizing it cannot be earned in any fashion of our own effort. Still worrying about their sins and weaknesses, they do not know it is possible to resist the devil and quiet the conscience and 'rest' in the knowledge and assurance that God has removed the filth of all our iniquities once and for all on the cross of Christ 2000 years ago. Just as sin entered the world through one man (Adam), and death through sin, " So also the result of one act of righteousness (the Cross),  was justification that brings life for all men." (Rom. 5:19) When this scripture is fully revealed in the heart of a Christian, then and only then can they have the peace and intimacy of which you speak. For the law brings death ; but life and peace come through the Spirit.

Sometimes, as you say, we get so caught up in the things of this world that we lose the fellowship of his presence, but he never leaves or forsakes us and is waiting right there to lift us up in his warm, loving indescribable embrace.

Oh the riches of Christ that are available to us even right now, if we will pursue him and him alone.

Love In The Lord,
Greg R.

"'PRETEND' With Me For A Minute!!"

I am blessed to live on the edge of our little tiny town in a area where there is vast countryside around me.  Granted, I live in North Texas, where there is nothing but 'mesquite stubs' for trees and green grass is inundated with weeds of every kind imaginable.  However, it is basically quiet where I live, besides the sound of a car passing by my house as people go to and from work.

I often sit and 'pretend' what my life would be like if I had no access to the outside world at all.  I keep the television off and only play soft, Christian worship music and sit on my swing on my front porch and talk to 'Dad'.  The thought occurs to me 'I wonder what my daily thoughts would be if I had never gotten on the internet or television? What would I be thinking on a daily basis, if I didn't know about Obama and the bad things in the world?  Would I be even thinking at all about the rapture or just spending quality time with God?

I often think our advanced technology is what fuels the fears we have about our future and the world around us.  I sometimes envy the Amish people because they choose to live a simple life, separated from the world and it's chaos.  I feel like sometimes that the 'tree of knowledge of good and evil' is for us, the connections we have to the outside world.  God originally wanted things to be simple for His children with nothing more than enjoying life with Him on a day to day basis and raising our own children.

I just wanted all of you to take a moment and 'pretend' that you are living in the beginning of the world again and all you have is your little simple world and God.  Just bask in the enjoyment of the bliss and peace that is there.  Life can be what God wants it to be if we will get our eyes off of the world and on Him and our relationship with Him.  When we focus on Him and 'abide' in Him as our resting place, He replaces our fears with peace that passes all understanding.

If the rapture doesn't happen this weekend, I believe that what I have said above is what we need to do in order to be able to handle the future years ahead.  If we keep our eyes on the world and the things going on, it just fuels our fears of where we are headed.  If we keep our eyes, ears and hearts fixated on our Father, and abide in His lap, we can 'rest' in anything that comes our way.....
