"Drinking water from water tank in an emergency"
Thank you Eric for the information about using the the hot water heater in the event that
water becomes scarce. I've been concerned about this. I printed off the instructions
so that I will have it if necessary. We have a well on our property. Of course it is
operated by electricity. I'm looking into getting an old-fashioned hand pump just in case.
Fortunately, we have an old wood-burning cookstove that we can use if necessary.
For now, it's just for looks. I had the chimney and stove cleaned recently so it's ready
to go. I'm also ordering a load of firewood. I'm also making sure that my little propane
tank for the grill is full. We have a kerosene lamp so I'll probably get some extra fuel for that.
Of
course, I've stocked up on canned goods. In a dream (which I've
written about before on Five Doves) people were at my door, trying to
get our canned goods. I'm also trying to keep
my gas tank in my car above the halfway mark at all times. Hopefully we won't need to use
all of these measures, but also thinking of others that may have use for my home and the food.
