Deborah writes:Barry I had meant to ask you whether you considered that if a person went so far as to sell their soul or to enter the dark forest you saw so to speak, whether it would always and for everyone for all time be too late and that person's fate was sealed forever?______________________________________Absolutely not! Thank God. I believe that it is possible to be a sold out slave to Satan and serve him for however long and then still be reachable by God's mercy and grace and be saved and receive eternal life. (Just look at Bill Schnoebelen for example, and even John Todd again, who - I love you Frank Molver, but I also did some checking after you suggested his was not a real conversion, and I read what you gave, as well as other material against Todd, and I was about to go remove my mention of him from my comments when the Holy Spirit led me to go read Todd's own testimony. And then I changed my mind and believe him to be in fact genuinely saved but attacked by the enemy...)Hebrews 7:25. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him...The scary thing to me is that someone might be tempted to believe that because God is rich in mercy, therefore someone can go his own way and have "fun" for a while and then repent later and get right with God and have, as Van Halen sings, "The Best of Both Worlds". Like the prodigal son, live like the devil because Dad will always take you back when you run out of money and friends. Well, I did a follow up video where I attempted to talk about this using Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin and the lyric in Stairway to Heaven where he sings,"Yes there are two paths you can go by but in the long run, there's still time to change the road you're on..."In the live version on the concert video performance called "The Song Remains the Same," Plant adds the words,"I hope so..."He also says as an introduction before starting the song, "I think this is a song of hope." Then when he is about to sing the line about there still being time to change the road you're on, he says, "But I've got some good news..."Well, I couldn't help but wonder if it was possible that this man was also visited by spirits that made him a deal similar to what they offered to me. Maybe they also told him that at the end of his life he would go to hell. And maybe just like AC/DC sings, they told him that hell was not a bad place to be. And maybe they told him that if he was not sure then he could go along with them for a while and if he changed his mind, "There would still be time to change the road he was on..." And maybe that is why Robert Plant calls "Stairway to Heaven" a song of hope and says of that line, "I hope so".So, while I would certainly say that it is not automatically too late for someone who sells their soul and God can still save anyone while it is called today and today is the day of salvation, so as long as it is called today, there is always hope, etc. Yet I would still highly caution that the bible also says God is not mocked and what one sows one will also reap. There was even a time in my decision making process where I contemplated going my way for a while and then repenting later after I had enjoyed myself for a time. And I thought that if times looked bad and the tribulation looked like it was getting close I would get right with God then etc. But as soon as I considered that as an option, the thought occurred to me that I might not be able to recognize the signs of the times when they did arrive (this was back in 1976 or 7) if I was living like the world. Maybe the tribulation could be ready to happen but I would just go on eating and drinking and buying and selling right up to the day when sudden destruction hits and I would not have time to repent etc. That sobered me towards a wise decision too.I think God looks at each individual and will have mercy on whom He will and looks on the heart. Thank God He is merciful!
