"Matt's salutatorian speech /sniffle, sniffle"
To give glory to God:
I wanted to share this video that brings tears to my eyes! Try to at least
listen to the first few minutes of this salutatorian's speech. We have known
Matt since he was a toddler, and I am honored that he sometimes calls me "Aunt"
Jane. His mother, Terri, a good friend from church, was a divorced, single mom
for a long time. About 15 years ago, my son occasionally babysat Matt and his
older brother Joseph (who now is a talented singer/guitarist) while Terri
worked shift work. We have been privileged to watch Matt grow from a small boy
who hardly said a word, to a fine young man who will be going to Marietta
College this fall to play football and major in petroleum engineering. Besides
academic success, the boys have been blessed with a great stepdad, Ted, who has
to be one of the best stepdads on earth.
