"Kelley Herman - "SOMMAWHUT I LERNT IN TEXAS""

Good one, Kelley… I have that on my Jokes page.  There are, however, a few things left off the list.  I was born in Louisiana, but mostly raised in Houston, but Houston is the “big city” compared to where my Richard grew up in east Texas.  You talk about a Texas accent… hilarious!!!  The first time I heard him say some of these things, I had no idea what he was saying:

1.    “Yona” (long “o” sound) means “do you want to”, as in “Let’s go for a ride, yona?”

2.    “T’eat” means “to eat”, as in asking the dogs, “Do ya want somethin’ t’eat?”

3.    “Yonder” means off somewhere over there, as in “Look at that car yonder.”

4.    “Carry your a**” (derierre) means “get out of here”, as in “You better carry you’re a**!”

5.    “Reckon” means “guess”, as in “I reckon so.”

6.    There are no “g”s at the end of a Texan word, like Darlin’, pickin’, etc.

7.    “Fixin to” means getting ready to, as in “I’m fixing to go to the store.”

The man is an absolute riot!

Love from your sister in Yahshua!

Peggy
