"WHAT IS THE FOURTH PART OF THE EARTH IN REVELATON 6:8?"

Dear Doves,

Does anyone know the answer to the question what is
"the fourth part of the earth" in Revelation 6:8, "And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth."  According to the excerpts from 3 articles below on the bottom of this page, about 1/4 of the Earth's surface is land.  So does that mean "the fourth part of the earth" in Rev. 6:8 is all the land which is 1/4 of the Earth's surface?  Or does it mean the fourth part of the earth is 1/4 of all the land which is not covered by the ocean?  I don't know the answer to this question which is why I am asking.  Does death and hell have power over all the land which is 1/4 of the Earth's surface. or does death and hell have power over 1/4 of all the land that is not covered by the ocean which would represent 1/16 of the land's surface?

Harper's Introductory Geography

"How much of the earth's surface is land, and how much of it is water?  About one quarter is land and three quarters are water."

"Remember that the earth consists of two parts, land and water; and when we look at a map or globe we find that the water occupies by far the greater portion. As a matter of fact, 72 per cent., or nearly three-quarters of the earth's surface, is water and only one quarter is land."

Earth

About 71% of the surface is covered with salt-water oceans, the remainder consisting of continents and islands; liquid water, necessary for all known life, is not known to exist on any other planet's surface.
