"Elderly and their food needs"
God put it upon my heart to start a food pantry of sorts for the elderly
members of my church to ensure their grocery needs are met. I've never
done anything like this before. I'm a musician and not involved in the
senior citizen ministry at my church. It dawned on me that these
elderly saints whose employable years are behind them and who are on a
fixed income probably need help buying food, etc. I know for me the
steady increase in groceries coupled with fuel has created tight
finances in my house, but nevertheless, all our needs are met.
I am
encouraging anyone who feels the urging of the Holy Spirit to check
the
needs of the elderly in your own churches and see if there is
something you
can do to make sure they have food to eat. I'm shocked
how the family
members of some of these folks aren't even helping them.
One lady can't
afford to run her ac in her mobile home because the
finances aren't
there....and down here on the Texas coast an air
conditioner is a necessity.
Hope you will consider the needs of the elderly.
