In the beginning I had know idea what to do about
whether to save food or not and we have as little money as everyone else I know.
So I said to God If He wanted me to save food he would provide the means to do
so. Three weeks later a cheque came, out of the blue, for 160 euros. We
immediately went and bought food staples with it and thanked God. Every week
since then I have bought a little extra.
At this time also My husband was being encouraged
to bring home left over perishable food stuff from his evening work. We thanked
God and asked Him what we were to do with so much food. There were muffins, soda
bread, scones, danishes, French sticks, bacon, sausages, soup and so on... you
get the idea! We couldn't possibly eat it all ourselves. My younger daughter
began putting much of it out for the birds.
It became a daily task for one or other of us to
keep the grey backed crows, magpies and grey doves of it (they bullied the
smaller birds away) That is until I stepped out the door one day and was
immediately impressed with the story of Simon Peter and his vision of the cloth
being lowered from heaven with all manner of animals and birds on it and I
instantly knew what God was telling me. There was going to be a time soon when
all manner of people would need help - including with food and I was not to turn
any of them away. I told my husband this when he came home from work and he said
He had just been reading that bible passage at lunch time -
confirmation.
I pray my family will be gracious and know God's
word and will for us at the right time.
Be sure you will not need to ask anyone else's
opinion on what to do. God will lead some of us to save food, some to pray, some
to preach ect but also know for sure He will tell you what your job is at the
right time.

P.S.
Just to add a note to the 'saving food'
contribution I made. Over the weekend we received a phone call from a very long
standing friend who we hadn't seen since moving (7 years) He was very much in
need of a break and asked us if he could come over and bring with him a retired
priest who was ill. We were overjoyed and practically booked the ferry! God
moves so quickly sometimes and I am thankful that he has given us this
opportunity to bless our friend and the old sick priest with our love and plenty
of food!!
