Dear Doves,

 

JESUS SAYS HE HAS SOMETHING 'FOR SALE', BUT YOU DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO BUY IT!

 

Rev 3:18

"I counsel you TO BUY FROM ME gold refined in the fire so you can become rich; and (buy from me) white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and (buy from me) salve to put on your eyes so you can see."

 

Here Jesus is advising the "lukewarm Christians" that are members of the Church of Laodicea. Although their salvation is a free gift from Jesus Christ they are not fully appreciative of their gift so they are going to have "TO BUY FROM JESUS" the sanctification for their salvation. Jesus says He loves them so he will rebuke and discipline them, because 'Faith without works is dead'.

 

 Rev 3:19

"Those whom I love I rebuke and DISCIPLINE."

 

"I counsel you" means (my advice to you as an alternative to eternal condemnation).

"buy from Me" means ( it is NOT a gift, but rather one must earn it).

"gold" is ( the sanctification of one's faith by the works that one does because one has the free gift of salvation by the Grace of God).

"refined in the fire" is (the good works one must do in the fire of tribulation to earn sanctification because one is lukewarm).

"so you can become rich" is referring to (the rewards one receives in Heaven each according to what one deserves).

"white clothes to wear" refers to (the washing away of one's sins with the Blood of Christ shed for us on the cross).

"cover your shameful nakedness" refers to (the fact that without one's repentance of sin one is naked and unforgiven before God).

"salve to put on your eyes so you can see" is the (enlightening ability for one to see the Truth of God's Word when one seeks it out).

 

Rev 3:21

"To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with Me on My throne, just as I overcame and sat down with My father on his Throne."
