"URGENT Call to Prayer and Action"

Hello John and All Doves,

It's sad that this dangerous legislation proposal is existing, but we are praying people, and we can write our letters, make our phone calls,

and continue in prayer against. I personally like individual letters as I think they have more impact.

An Urgent Call To Prayer and Action
May 1, 2007

Congress is considering the passing of H.R. 1592, the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2007 this week. It has put this bill on a fast track to be passed only one month after its proposal. The language of the bill claims that violence motivated by sexual orientation and gender identity poses a national problem.

DANGER OF THIS LEGISLATION

(1) Endorsement of Homosexual Behavior. This act would recognize sexual orientation as a “protected class” of citizens. By enacting H.R. 1592, this Congress would codify and endorse homosexual behavior and it does not distinguish “sexual orientation” so it could include all manner of sexual deviancy.

(2) Possible Loss of Free Speech. We are challenging this proposed legislation on the basis that it does not assure our free speech right to speak out against homosexuality as a sin. There is the potential that pastors and other Christian leaders may be charged with a crime if someone who has heard them teach on this subject commits a crime against someone who happens to fall into the above category.

CALL TO ACTION

  • Call and E-mail your representatives and ask them to vote NO to H.R. 1592.
Call (202) 225-3121 or go to the Traditional Values website: http://www.traditionalvalues.org/hc/ for more information and to locate their email addresses.
  • Contact your pastor, Christian leaders, relatives, friends and neighbors, bring information, ask them to pray and contact their representatives by phone and email.
  • Connect with the Hope Connection, Bishop Harry Jackson’s group, to add your name to the petition being sent to the Office of the Republican Whip in opposition to this bill. You can contact them at their website:  www.thetruthinblackandwhite.com.

WHAT TO SAY

  • Tell them to vote NO to H.R. 1592.
  • Tell them you are opposed to this bill because Congress has already granted protected class status for a limited group of individuals, and “sexual orientation” does not fall in the same category.
  • Tell them that interpretations of this bill can pose a threat to freedom of speech and religious expression.
  • Tell them that the so-called amendments added to the bill does not fix the problem of curtailing freedom of speech for pastors and other religious leaders.
