There is a huge volcano in California - it is called Mt. Shasta. It could suddenly erupt and end up affecting the whole state besides San Francisco and other states close by as well, depending on the size of the eruptoin!
 
Also, remember that we all live on a thin earthen crust that bubbles beneath with hot molten lava.  At any time that crust can be broken allowing the lava to gush out. Volcanos can form ANYWHERE - even in your own backyard without any warning at all!  IF God wants to spit one out - He could do so in a matter of minutes,  days, weeks, months, or years, whatever suits His will!
