"Spring Cleaning"

I laughed out loud when I read Diane’s post about spring-cleaning fever.  I laughed even more when I read all the follow ups.

It was last May that I realized that there were some serious structural defects in my house.  So it began with residing the house along with new gutters.  I had to share costs with a neighbor for a new fence.  A new sliding glass door that goes out to the backyard was installed Then the roof started leaking so I had a new roof put on.  A bathroom had to be gutted and all new hardware has been installed.  It’s now waiting for me to paint the new walls.  Two rooms needed new floors so I had some pergo like boards laid.  The same two rooms needed painting.  A new french door had to be installed between the family room and the dining room.  The couch in the family room really did come from the 1950’s from my old family home so of course that had to go and be replaced by a 2007 model.  The one dining room wall needed new wallboard and is also waiting for me to paint it.  The kitchen looked like a relic from the 50’s with the sink leaking and ruining the cabinets.  New sink and faucet will soon be installed.  The cabinets are now refinished with the one cabinet under the sink rebuilt.  Of course I needed new hinges and new knobs.  I have some pergo left over so that’s probably going to end up in the kitchen also.  The 1980’s dishwasher no longer matches the new kitchen décor so a new washer is still in the box waiting to be installed.  But that can’t happen till the new formica replaces the old torn scratched up formica.  I also had to replace three doors and also a special door to close off the laundry room.  Right now as I type, the bathroom sink is filling with water from the clothes washer so I need a plumber to come out and ream out the pipes.

Hey, if I can get to the part when I start tossing out all the junk I’ve accumulated over the years before the Rapture it will indeed be a miracle.
