Opposes any portion of the Real ID Act that violates the rights and liberties (free exercise of religion) guaranteed under the Illinois Constitution or the United States Constitution, including the Bill of Rights, and urges the Illinois Congressional delegation in the United States Congress to support measures to repeal the Real ID Act of 2005.Excerpts
16 WHEREAS, Real ID contains no exemption for religion, limits17 religious liberty, and tramples the beliefs of groups such as18 the Amish and some Evangelical Christians; and
11 WHEREAS, Real ID was passed without sufficient12 deliberation by Congress and never received a hearing by any13 Congressional committee or any vote solely on its own merits;14 and

7 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE8 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE9 SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that the Illinois General Assembly10 supports the government of the United States in its campaign11 against terrorism and affirms the commitment of the United12 States that the campaign not be waged at the expense of13 essential civil rights and liberties of citizens of this14 country that are protected in the United States Constitution15 and the Bill of Rights; and be it further
16 RESOLVED, That the members of the Illinois General Assembly17 oppose any portion of the Real ID Act that violates the rights18 and liberties guaranteed under the Illinois Constitution or the19 United States Constitution, including the Bill of Rights; and20 be it further
21 RESOLVED, That the Illinois General Assembly urges the22 Illinois Congressional delegation in the United States
