Judas wasn't a believer...thus he wasn't born again or justified. In John 6:29 - Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent."
To believe on Jesus is to be born again. John 3:16 tells us...whosoever believes shall not perish but have eternal life. This is the work of God or the work of faith. As we grow in Jesus we trust him more and more. When this occurs our faith is that which brings forth the character of Jesus. To follow Jesus is to be a disciple. Luke 14:26-27 says we cannot be his disciples if we do not pick up our cross daily and love him fully. So believing on Jesus one is born again. By following Jesus we become a disciple. In the following verses Jesus was speaking to those who had been following him.John 6:61-64
61 When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples complained about this, He said to them, "Does this offend you?62 What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend where He was before?63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.64 But there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him.
The above verse is speaking of Judas. Judas did not believe. Jesus said he did not believe. Jesus knew from the beginning who did not believe and who would betray him. This was Judas and verse 71 confirms that it was Judas. Now the work of God is to believe on Jesus. If we believe we have eternal life.Judas did not believe. We see this also in John 6:66-7166 From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.67 Then Jesus said to the twelve, "Do you also want to go away?"68 But Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.69 Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
70 Jesus answered them, "Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?"71 He spoke of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, for it was he who would betray Him, being one of the twelve.
Eleven of the disciples had come to believe that Jesus was the Christ the Son of the living God.Judas betrayed Jesus, the scriptures associated Jesus betrayal with not believing in Jesus. Judas is the one who betrayed Jesus. Judas did not believe in Jesus. Thus he was not born again or justified.Since Judas was not justified or a believer when Jesus spoke of not losing anyone...what he said still holds true. He will lose nothing.Of course we know that God cannot lie. If Jesus said he will lose nothing of that which is given to him then that is true. The rule of exception...whether it is in the scriptures or not I do not know...does not apply here.Judas did not believe. Judas was not justified or born again. Though he was among those that followed Jesus for over 3 years, he still was not a believer he was a thief and a betrayer...not a believer. One must be a believer to be covered in the blood. Once we are covered in the blood our name cannot be blotted out of the book of life.John Johnson
