Hosea 6:2 ties in very well here also -

"Come and let us return unto the LORD; for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.  After two days will he revive us; in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight."

If a thousand years is as a day - cf. 2 Peter 3:8 then -

The Age of Gentile rule over Israel began with Nebuchadnezzar's rise to power in 606 B.C. through Babylon, and ended in 1948, totalling 2,550 years approx.  i.e. “...in the third day he will raise us up.”

Compare Hosea 1:10 -

"Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that IN THE PLACE where it was said unto them, YE ARE NOT MY PEOPLE, THERE IT SHALL BE SAID UNTO THEM, YE ARE THE SONS OF THE LIVING GOD.”

These Old Testament Prophets knew the voice of God speaking to them alright!!!

We now look forward to the time when God breathes his Holy Spirit into the Nation of Israel...

Ezekiel 37:13-14  “And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves.  And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land; then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.”

God’s Word stands secure for all time.  Hallelujah!
