In Matthew 24 Jesus warned us of great deception in the last days. In
the passage you quote, it is termed 'strong delusion' and the
'deceivableness of unrighteousness'.

Jesus also said a 'snare' is coming on the whole world and what is a
snare if not a deceitfully hidden trap, so that those who are to be
'caught' are desensitized.

Yes, this man of sin must be revealed first, and some time later, he
is destroyed by the brightness of Messiah's coming.
