Setting the Record Straight on the "DaVinci Code"
Let me try and set the record straight on Dan Brown's alleged "DaVinci Code".
First of all, no self respecting art historian calls the Grand Master,
DaVinci; rather all call him Leonardo. Secondly, no self respecting art
historian believes that Leonardo painted his 'Mona Lisa' as a self portrait in
drag. Thirdly, no self respecting art historian believes that is indeed Mary
Magdelene next to Jesus in his painting 'The Last Supper" rather than His
beloved albeit feminine looking disciple John. If it were indeed Mary, then
where was John, under the table?
Next, no self respecting biblical historian believes that there is a secret
code that shows that Jesus was married to Mary Magdelene and they had a child,
Sarah, and that He really wanted the Church to be built upon Mary not Peter.
Finally, no self respecting New Testament scholar believes that Jesus was only
a man who was deified by Constantine in 325AD at Nicea. What about the first
hand accounts of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John written hundreds of years
earlier?
If it were indeed true as Brown alleges that Jesus did not rise from the
graver on the third day then as the Apostle Paul admonished 'your faith would
be worthless and you would still be in your sins'.
"The DaVinci Code" is just an outlandish work of fiction, nothing more and
nothing less, and should have no bearing on the real history and truth of
Jesus Christ for any self respecting Christian.
