"Re:Daniel Matson "The 70th Week""To: David BurnetteFrom: Marilyn AgeeRe: "The 70th Week"Hi:Please reconsider your position that Dan. 9:27 applies to Christ. It doesn't. It can't.> > 2) It’s common knowledge Jesus had a 3 ½ year public ministry, which ended as we all know at his crucifixion (cut off), therefore 69 ½ weeks of years ended also at the cut off (crucifixion). However, Scripture, in Dan 9:25, says, "Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment (of Cyrus) to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks". It doesn't say 69.5 weeks of years.Isa. 44:28 says, The "LORD, thy redeemer" (i.e., the Son of God) "saith of CYRUS, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to JERUSALEM, THOU SHALT BE BUILT; AND TO THE TEMPLE, THY FOUNDATION SHALL BE LAID."In Wars V.IX. 4, Josephus said, "You are also acquainted with the slavery we were under at Babylon, where the people were captives for seventy years; yet were they not delivered into freedom again before God made CYRUS HIS GRACIOUS INSTRUMENT IN BRINGING IT ABOUT; ACCORDINGLY THEY WERE SET FREE BY HIM, AND DID AGAIN RESTORE THE WORSHIP OF THEIR DELIVERER AT HIS TEMPLE."> > 3) Jesus was therefore Cut off (crucified) 3 ½ years “AFTER” (Dan. 9:26) him being “anointed” Messiah the Prince at his baptism.> > 4) The above proves 69 ½ weeks of Daniel’s 70th Week therefore has already been used up at the cut off (or crucifixion in Daniel 6:26), which naturally only leaves 3 ½ years still in the future.According to Martin Anstey in "The Romance of Bible Chronology," the prophecy of Dan. 9:27 ran to 30 AD, not 26 AD (when John the Baptist baptized Jesus). (483 yrs - 454 BC + 1 [because there was no zero year] = 30 AD).
Jesus is the "Messiah the Prince", not the despicable "prince that SHALL come" in the future.
Dan. 9:25,26 says, "Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem (issued by Cyrus in 454 BC) unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks (483 yrs - 454BC + 1 [because there was no zero yr] = 30 AD): the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. And after threescore and two weeks (i.e., in 30 AD) shall Messiah (Jesus Christ) be cut off (karath, killed), but not for himself (for us): and the people (Romans) of the prince (i.e., the False Prophet) that SHALL COME (in the future) shall destroy the city and the sanctuary (a Roman army destroyed both by fire in 70 AD); and the end thereof shall be (in the future) with a flood (an overflowing shower,! i.e., a tsunami, when the asteroid of Rev. 8:8 impacts the Mediterranean Sea), and unto the end of the war (Armageddon) desolations are determined."
Continuing, Dan. 9:27 says, "And he (a pronoun refers back to the last mentioned, i.e., the False Prophet that 'shall come' in the future) SHALL confirm (strengthen) the covenant (i.e., the peace treaty) with many (including the UN) for one week (7 years): and in the midst of the week he (the False Prophet) shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease (when he sits in the temple shewing himself that he is God, II Thess. 2:4), and for the overspreading of abominations (idols) he (the False Prophet) shall make it (the Temple) desolate, even until the consummation (Armageddon), and that determined (fire, when he is thrown in the Lake of Fire, Rev. 19:20) shall be poured upon the desolate" (the desolator, the False Prophet).
The False Prophet "SHALL", in the future, confirm the covenant for 7 years, not 3.5 years. The future 70th week of Daniel is 7 years.
Jesus isn't the one that will strengthen the peace treaty for 7 years. He isn't the desolator upon whom fire will be poured, either.
This is talking about the final Antichrist, the Satan-possessed False Prophet of Rev. 13:11-18. He will be revealed when he signs the strenthened peace treaty at the beginning of the 7-year Tribulation. His despotic rule will begin when he is indwelt by Satan, and sits in the Temple Mid-Trib shewing himself that he is God.
> > 5) 99 % of our “modern” prophecy books has taught us in the last 150 years or so the “he” in Daniel 9:27 is the antichrist who will make a 7-year peace treaty with the many in Israel (Dan 9:27), which they say will commence the 70th week of Daniel. Then this tradition also teaches us this antichrist will break the 7-year peace treaty in the middle of the 70th Week ( 3 ½ years) as he enters into the newly built temple and declares himself God as he sits in the Holy of Holies of this new temple. The problem with all this men’s tradition is there is simply NO Biblical proof to back it up. That’s why the Bible states man’s traditions make the Word of God of none effect!
II Thess. 2:3,4 says, "Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day (i.e., the great and dreadful Day of the Lord) shall not come, except there come a falling away (lit., a departing, i.e., the Pre-Trib Rapture) first, and that man of sin (the False Prophet) be revealed (after the Rapture, when he signs the strengthened 7-year peace covenant), the son of perdition (i.e., he's Satan possessed from Mid-Trib on); Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God."
When this happens, the believers in Jerusalem will have to flee to the wilderness and Petra for 1260 days (3.5 years). Rev. 12:6 says, "And the woman (Israel) fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place (Petra) prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days." Verse 14 adds, "And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time (1 year), and times (2 years), and half a time ( i.e., for 3.5 years), from the face of the serpent."
> > The whole context of Daniel 9:24-27 is about the coming Messiah and not antichrist. “The covenant mentioned in Daniel 9:27 is referring back to the Abrahamic Covenant Gabriel was already talking about in Daniel 9:4. Gabriel informs Daniel this coming Messiah would “confirm” (meaning strengthen) the Abrahamic Covenant during the first ½ of Daniel’s 70th Week. Roman’s 15:8, and Galation’s 3:17 proves Jesus “confirmed” this covenant during his public ministry and NOT antichrist. There is not one verse in the Bible that says the antichrist confirms anything or makes a covenant. This simply is a lie from the devil. This same devil would like the last generation Christians to be placed in a snare also with this strong delusion that the “he” in Daniel 9:27 is the antichrist.
To me, there is no way that Dan. 9:27 can apply to Christ. The LITERAL VERSION says, "And he shall confirm a covenant with the many for one week (i.e., 7 years). And in the middle of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease. And on a corner of the altar will be abominations (idols) that desolate, even until the end (i.e., of the 70th week, the Tribulation). And that which was decreed (the Sword of the Lord, the asteroid of Rev. 8:10) shall pour out on the desolator" (i.e., be poured out on the False Prophet, the final Satan-possessed Antichrist).
Tying in with Daniel 9:27, Mt. 24:15-22 (KJV) says, "When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation (an idol), spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand) [i.e., stand in the Temple]: Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: For then shall be great tribulation [last half of the 7 years], such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those! days [the last 1260 of the Tribulation] should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened."
There is no way Mt. 24:15-22 or Dan. 9:27 can apply to Christ. The "desolator" is the False Prophet, the idol shepherd. Zech 11:17 says, "Woe to the IDOL SHEPHERD that leaveth the flock! the sword (Sword of the Lord, i.e, the asteroid of Rev. 8:10 shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened."
Jer 12:12 says, "The spoilers are come upon all high places through the wilderness: for the SWORD OF THE LORD shall devour from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land: no flesh shall have peace.
