"re: CAPS"
I am with you all the way on our "foreign policy"
mess. These are poor black people with no oil, no business, and no
clout therefore we can just pretend like they have no value at all to the
Lord? Do you know that the Bush doctrines have created more billionaires
in his watch than ever in history? Yet hard working families have
no health insurance while the pharmaceutical companies have soaring profits.
How about the fact that more Americans have slipped into poverty while
working two jobs and stressing themselves into early illness---still without
insurance! The current strategies are all in place to help big business----that's
the name of the game and it's easy to sell if you simply say two or three
words----abortion, same-sex marriage and Jesus. Not that these are
not important issues but the corporate world has learned that the rest
of us are a bit simplistic and we will be willing to believe a lot of sales
talk if you look ernest and throw in a bunch of platitudes. Meanwhile,
the Congress gives themselves large raises and refuses to raise the minimum
wage for the poorest of us. Jesus spent all of his time with the
poor, and the sinners and his greatest anger was saved for the pious "churchy"
types of His day. He spoke a lot in the old and new testament about
the abuse of power and I'm sure He would have some good words for the old
gray men who have sent our sons to die and be maimed for a lie---not to
mention all of the Iraqi people who have died and suffered as a result
of our rush to war.
Thanks for your
letter---it gave me hope that there are more believers out there who see
the things that have been bothering me!! Lorette
