Dear friends:Because of its worldwide promotion and exposure, as well as timing relative to other world events, I believe the Da Vinci Code book and movie are landmark events in the end-time apostasy. The material denies the blessed atonement of Christ where God shed His own blood for the sake of a lost humanity. It is indescribable blasphemy against the Holy One and His great sacrifice.
The whole story is no doubt from the pit. For example, on the "Today Show," homosexual actor Ian McKellen asserted that the Bible itself should carry a disclaimer saying that it is "fiction."
As people read the book and will soon be able to watch the movie, untold multitudes will make a decision in their hearts to deny Christ, sealing their fate. "For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth" (2 Thessalonians 2:11-12, NIV).
The numbers are already coming in. In a British poll, two-thirds of those surveyed who have read the book believe that Jesus fathered a child with Mary Magdalene. Sixty-percent of the adults polled said after reading the book that they believed there was truth in the suggestion that Jesus had children and that his bloodline survives.
People outside of Christ and who do not know or respect God's Word, will easily be led astray. True, godly believers will be able to use this to lead a few to Christ, but will not be able to stop the onward march of prophetic fulfillment. The "elect" of God will remain the elect, and will be saved (Ephesians 1:4-5).
This worldwide Da Vinci Code phenomenon may, indeed, be the final event before the revealing of the antichrist. "Dont let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion (KJV: falling away) occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed" (2 Thessalonians 2:3, NIV).
Of course, the "rebellion"in the NIV and "falling away" in the KJV is from the Greek apostasia, which before the KJV in all major Bibles was translated as "departing," which many scholars interpret as the rapture. I have a copy of this passage in several pre-KJV Bibles and it is true. This includes the first seven English translations: Wycliffe Bible (1384); Tyndale Bible (1526); Coverdale Bible (1535); Cranmer Bible (1539); Breeches Bible (1576); Beza Bible (1583); Geneva Bible (1608). This supports the notion that the word truly means "departure."
Whichever, the world acclaim and reception of the fictional and blatantly antichrist Da Vinci Code may very well be final delusional event before the soon rapture and the revealing of the antichrist.
Come, Lord Jesus.
