Wonderful article John!
According to Richard McGough, an important theme of the number 17 is Jesus' sudden coming! (see link) Another related theme is the Transfiguration! (see link) Both are related to the RAPTURE!
Also, according to Ed Vallowe in his book Keys to Scripture Numerics, the number 17 also is indicative of victory!
Seven signifies completeness and ten signifies testimony, so the two numbers combined have the deeper significance of the testimony of completeness, or victory that is found in the Lord.
He devotes ten pages in his book to discussion of the number 17 and also connects it with Enoch, who walked with God and then was raptured.Enoch's son Methuselah was the oldest man who ever lived, till the age of 969, which can be evenly divided by 17. Methuselah became the father of Lamech at age 187, which also divides evenly by 17, though this is not possible of any of the other patriarchs. Lamech was the father of Noah at the age of 182, and lived afterwards for another 595 years, a multiple of 17. Enoch was the seventh from Adam, and Noah was the tenth, and the two of them were the only two antidiluvian patriarchs who are said to have "walked with God", and these numbers when added give 17, or victory.
