I had been thinking the same thing as Marilyn and I think you are on the right track about the Gaza pullout being God's will through Sharon, surprising as that may sound to pro-Israel people!  (But keep in mind, Israel lost her land for breaking Torah and they do not keep Torah today either--the few that seem to are really keeping Talmud, which is a different story)
 
So according to the prophecies, Gaza must be destroyed and it looks like Israel will be the one doing it.  I see her enemies using it to attack her together as Psalm 83 says, once they have possession.  This will be the same major prophesied war in which Damascus will be destroyed..  See Amos 1 mentioning Gaza and Damascus both being defeated and compare to Isaiah 17.
