I would imagine that your name is the girl's name corresponding to the boy's name "Dove", which I understand is a Hebrew name that means "bear", and is frequently heard in Israel today.  I'm only supposing though.
 
Less than a decade after Israel became a state there was a movie about their struggle called "Exodus", and one of the main characters was named "Dove."  If you can get this movie anywhere on video, I think you will enjoy it.
Dovella is a beautiful name!
