BEIJING, May 14 Kyodo - China has decided to be firm in urging North Korea against conducting nuclear tests and informed some parties involved in the stalled six-country nuclear talks to the effect, sources close to the talks said Saturday.

In the event the Chinese government determines that a North Korean nuclear weapons test plan has become imminent, it intends to send an envoy to Pyongyang to urge it to call off the plan, the sources said.

The development, which comes amid reports that North Korea may go ahead with nuclear experiments, is expected to force Pyongyang to decide whether to place priority on keeping up its nuclear ambitions or maintaining healthy ties with China.
