Shalom all,
This is a shorten study of the Omer count...the way the Jews do it for the most part. The Karaites (Jews who follow only the numbering of the days and weeks) may not use the seferotic way of this post...but if you look at their way...you can see the basic way of counting the Omer. Their way is found this year at:
http://www.karaite-korner.org/omer.shtmluse their day count for the Aviv (the biblically correct calendar..by starting the month of Nissan when the barley is found ripe for unleavened bread feast. I used both this calendar for the numbering of the Omer days...for the FIRST PASSOVER OF THIS YEAR.)
I have also used the Hillel calendar for counting the Omer this year.....and have therefore overlapped the two calendars into a third calendar in which I doubled the months up. For instance the first month of this calendar is Adar bet/Nissan (first month); Nissan/Iyar (2nd. month) and Iyar/Sevan (third month) for the first three months so far. And these three months then cover the Spring Feasts from Nissan 1 until Sivan 29/30.....or from Passover month until Shavuot-Penticost month.NOW FOR THE JEWISH WAY OF COUNTING THE OMER:
Number the seven days with these character traits. Notice that the OMER is counted many ways...some count from the Passover Story of easter, which is NOT A JEWISH COUNT...but you can try that way also, and see what you come up with.
Omer count with the 1st.Sabbath of UB...starts the day after UB begins.
Omer count with the Sabbath of the week...starts the day after Shabbot (Fri/Sat).
These are the two ways of Jewish counting of the Omer. One will always be on different days of the week...that's the UB count. The other will always be the same days of the week..starting always on sunday. For my study, that I will show in a later post I used the UB way of counting.
OK here goes: HEAVENLY SPIRAL EARTHLY SPIRAL
earthward from God heavenward from
mankind
there are 10 characteristics
the 1st. 3 are attributes
of God, and are not
counted until the 50th. day.
the 10 that are numbered are:
l. Chesed-Mercy
2. Gevurah-Judgement
3. Tiferet-Beauty
4. Netzach-Victory (mid-point)
5. Hod-Glory
6. Yesod-Foundations
7. Malkut-Kingdom
each day the spiral of eternity moves from God's count of time to Man's count of time in the
counting of the Omer. So therefore we can prophecy when we see what God is looking at, or we can grow to be like Him by man's count. God' s count is from the end...and man's count is from the beginning...and the Spirals meet this year , perhaps, maybe, in the double months of the mixed Aviv and Hillel calendar. See what you think when you do this study. By the way, the 7 weeks of the Omer...also follow this same pattern, and that is why the Omer is counted by the day and by the week that day fall into.day 1 of every week will be the character of Malkut/Kingdom Chesed/Mercy
2 " Yesod/Foundations Gevurah/Judgement
3 " Hod/Glory Tiferet/Beauty
4 (midpoint every day, week & Omer) Netzach/Victory Netzach/Victory
This 4th. day is the main stay of happenings in my study this year of the OMER COUNT.
5 of every week will be the character of Tiferet/Beauty Hod/Glory
6 " Gevurah/Judgement Yesod/Foundations
7 " Chesed/Mercy Malkut/KingdomSo looking at each day in the above example, and then looking at those days within the weeks you would do thus:
week l thru 7 repeats the above line-up....with 7 days (the above repeated each week)
from God's viewpoint wk. 1 is Malkut. day l is Malkut...or the Kingdom within the Kingdom
representing the end of the ages...the beginning from the end.
But man's viewpoint is from the point of Chesed within Chesed, or from Mercy within Mercy the beginning of the beginning. The point at which eternity starts. Then as each day passes...God looks downward and Man looks upward...one step closer to each other each day. The 2nd. day of the first week is counted thusly..
For God's count it is Yesod/foundation within Malkut/Kingdom
For Man the count is Gevurah/judgement within Malkut/Kingdom
or the omer count= day count within week count
and so the fulfilling of the learning of how to number our days....from beginning to end. That is the study of the Omer and My study of this years Omer.
I will publish that study on the Five Doves to show how the election of the pope fits in, the happenings on ascention day, and more. This is just a brief outline of how this jewish minded gentile has percieved this Omer count from study-ing the Torah command to do so.
May it bless you as you study it....even if you have to back to the beginning point where I started to put it together.
If anyone sees more insights than I have seen so far in this study; please add to it. I will tell you that as I started posting this piece an unusual thing happened. For months and even years...I have had a dove that comes and perches on the high wires in the back of my yard...mostly on the appointed times of Lev. 23. He is a lonesome dove...one without a mate, for his mate has either died or he has yet to mate. At the beginning of this post...in the corner of my room where my computer sits....and I can only see where those highwires connect to my home....that dove came and looked into my window into the world from my computer position....and he cooed...while I cooed back at him. The scripture "Who is this dove that comes to the window" came to mind.Shalom,
