"Maybe We are Suppose to ASK the Lord to Return?"

Maybe We are Suppose to ASK the Lord to Return?

__
I do -- daily and specifically! And I ain't gonna shut up til he comes and takes us away!

Jim

This thought has occurred to me on several occassions.  Recently I was listening to a Bible Study in the Book of Daniel, where Chuck Missler pointed out that Daniel's famous intercessory prayer for Israel's sins, was initiated in direct response to his reading the prophecies of Jeremiah, which indicated that the captivity in Babylon would only last 70 years.  When 70 years was up.....Daniel fasted and interceded.....that's when the angel Gabriel came to speak to him.

Daniel read the prophecies of Jeremiah, believed them, acted upon them with prayer.

Chuck also pointed out, that the Lord's Prayer includes a request for His Kingdom COME upon earth.

And in the last chapter of Revelation: the Spirit and the Bride SAY "Come!"  That's a prayer.

Many of the scriptures we have noticed warning us to "Watch" for the Lord's return, ALSO include the urging to PRAY.

The Lord's Final 2nd Coming will come in DIRECT RESPONSE to the sincere earnest prayers of the Jews for their Messiah to come, at the end of the Tribulation period, after they have been ravished and are surrounded by their enemies.......Jesus will not return, in fact, until they DO "ASK" for Him to come back to them.

So.....have we missed the boat here?

Its not enough to just WATCH for the Lord's return, we are to ASK for His Return too?

Mar 13:33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

Luk 21:36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Col 4:2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;

1Pe 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

Rev 3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

The Jews ask:

Mat 23:39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed [is] he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

The Holy Spirit AND the Bride ask:

Rev 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

The Church is to be continually ASKING for God's Kingdom to come to earth:

Luk 11:2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

Zec 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for [his] only [son], and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for [his] firstborn.

Mat 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

They missed it the first time, because they did not discern the signs of the times.  God held them accountable for knowing WHEN the Messiah would come:

Luk 19:44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

1Ch 12:32 And of the children of Issachar, [which were men] that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do;
Luk 19:41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,
Luk 19:42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things [which belong] unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
Luk 19:44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

Mat 23:37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, [thou] that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under [her] wings, and ye would not!
Mat 23:38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.
Mat 23:39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed [is] he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Zec 12:1,2 The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him. Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah [and] against Jerusalem.
Zec 12:3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
Zec 12:4 In that day, saith the LORD, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with blindness.
Zec 12:5 And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem [shall be] my strength in the LORD of hosts their God.
Zec 12:6 In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, [even] in Jerusalem.
Zec 12:7 The LORD also shall save the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem do not magnify [themselves] against Judah.
Zec 12:8 In that day shall the LORD defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David [shall be] as God, as the angel of the LORD before them.
Zec 12:9 And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
Zec 12:11 In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon.
Zec 12:12 And the land shall mourn, every family apart; the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart;
Zec 12:13 The family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart; the family of Shimei apart, and their wives apart;
Zec 12:14 All the families that remain, every family apart, and their wives apart.

Maranatha!
