After reading Arlene's fascinating Bible Study linking the Rapture with the Book of Ruth (first 2 links above), I went back and re-listened to Chuck Missler's detailed bible study on the book of Ruth, "The Romance of Redemption".  I was astounded with a few more details, which I will highlight here.

Four women mentioned in the Genealogy of Messiah:  (3 of dubious reputation)
  • Tamar
  • Rahab (Boaz' mother!)
  • Ruth  (King David's Great, great Grandmother, and Jesus's too.)
  • Bathsheba

Ruth the Gentile Bride - Boaz became her Jewish Redeemer/ Groom

Ruth introduced to Boaz by an "unnamed servant" (Holy Spirit), similar to Eleazer's part of bringing Rebecca to Isaac, he was a servant (Holy Spirit).

Next, I'm a little puzzled about, because here is what Chuck Missler shows in his notes:

Barley Harvest = Passover
Wheat Harvest = Pentecost

And the scriptures clearly indicate that Ruth gleaned until the END of what appears to be BOTH the Barley harvest and the Wheat harvest.  So, is it possible that there are TWO Wheat harvests in Israel each year?  One in the spring, and another in the fall?  The Feast of Pentecost, the Hebrews were required to provide TWO Loaves of bread, made from fine flour....this was to be a first fruits offering, as the bread was made from the first wheat harvest of the year.

See the scripture:

Rth 2:23 So she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz to glean unto the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and dwelt with her mother in law.

Rth 3:1 Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?

Rth 3:2 And now [is] not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to night in the threshing floor.

Rth 3:8 And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.

Did Ruth go to the threshing floor on or near Pentecost?... at the end of the barley harvest and wheat harvest....at Midnight!  Pentecost is celebrating the Wheat harvest....which must be "threshed" (suggesting tribulation?).  Pentecost is a Sabbath when no work could be done, so the day that Boaz was winnowing his barley certainly could not have been the actual Pentecost holiday....but certainly Boaz was involved in the harvest of his first fruits of the season of both wheat and barley according to Ruth 2:23.  So, I suspect that Ruth asked for her Redemption of Boaz very near Pentecost.

In any case, it is interesting to note that: Religious Jews to this day, traditionally always read the book of Ruth as part of their Pentecost feast activities!

More significance of Pentecost:

Law Given to Moses at Mt. Sinai on Pentecost, when there was a sounding of a long Trumpet blast from God!

Shabout: 6th of Sivan
Law at Sinai: 6th of Sivan

According to ancient rabbinic tradition, the Law was given to Moses on Pentecost, on 6th of Sivan.  We know that the Israelites heard the Trump of God then at Mt. Sinai, which frightened them.

2 times in the bible is there a reference to the "Trump of God"
at Sinai (Exodus 19) GOD sounded this Trumpet....not man......and
        at the Rapture (1 Thes. 4:13-17; 1 Cor.15:51-52)

Exd 19:13 ...when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.
Exd 19:16 And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that [was] in the camp trembled.

Exd 19:19 And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.

Rapture references to the Trump of God....not a trump from man:
1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

1Cr 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

EVEN More significance of Pentecost:

Enoch also possibly a type (he was raptured):

3 Groups relative to the Great Flood:
    Those that perished in it
Those that were preserved through it
    Those removed prior to it

Rabbinical Traditions:

Enoch born on 6th of Sivan, on Pentecost
Enoch raptured on 6th of Sivan, on Pentecost

Compare with church:

Church promised escape of the wrath to come (the Wrath of God, the Day of the Lord)
    Church born on Pentecost
Church to be Raptured on Pentecost?

Oh....one more thing, that Chuck Missler kept pointing out:

Ruth HAD TO GO AND ASK for Boaz to redeem her!  (She did this at midnight.)  The law was there, but it apparently wouldn't be activated until Ruth ASKED Boaz to REDEEM her.

This made me wonder if there isn't more significance to the passages in Revelation where the spirit and the Bride say "Come!"....(REDEEM US!)  Maybe the Bride is suppose to ASK our Redeemer to COME????  Just a thought.

Chuck's bible study of Ruth, is LOADED with intriguing insights.  I've just scratched the surface here.  If anyone wants to download or get a copy of Chuck Missler's Timely Detailed bible studies on the book of Ruth, which reveal that Ruth, a Gentile was a type and shadow of the coming Gentile Church...see links below for SOME of the info. on the internet in the form of an article.  But scroll down further to order a copy of his bible study tapes or MP3 downloads from the internet.  Well worth the investment.
