Hello all,I was stirred to comment on the post by Deborah called "Feed the Sheep or Amuse the Goats" or something like that by C. H. Spurgeon.
I know that I’m not always well received with these kinds of observations though I believe that they are from God for I would never be sharp enough to have seen them on my own… So, though I posted this idea some time ago it may be timely to try it again and hope that it is helpful now.
I believe that as time goes on more of us are beginning to see the astounding significance in the world of entertainment upon things of prophecy. For example I went and saw the new Star Wars movie and the defining moment of turning the galaxy from good to evil under the command of the dark lord is with a command to all his followers to now execute order number 66. As I walked through the lobby of the theater and down the hallway the movie posters for upcoming films were amazing in what they say and show. They all seem to have significance for what is about to come on this earth.
As for the sheep entertaining the goats idea it reminds me of something that God showed me some years ago about two different but similar movies. If I describe a plot can you guess which movie it is from? A military officer is stationed in a remote location for an extended period of time. Under stressful circumstances he slowly switches loyalties away from home toward the natives of the land where he is stationed until he no longer responds to his command base and is considered renegade by his own leaders.
This actually could be two different movies. Apocalypse Now and Dances With Wolves. In the first movie the officer is clearly portrayed as being in the wrong. However in the second which came out many years later his role has subtly been switched into one of a hero for the same basic offense. Now understand who is being portrayed. Has not our commander Jesus left us here, far from our home base in heaven, among our enemies to endure hardness as good soldiers, not entangling ourselves with this life that we may please Him who has chosen us? And did He not say that He sends us out as sheep among wolves? Isn’t it interesting that the movie is called Dances With Wolves? The very thing we are doing if we have become friends with this world rather than waiting faithfully for our Lord. This world will look favorably on that character or us as Christians if we dance with them (the wolves) but Jesus will not be pleased if we are so doing at His coming for us.
