Hi Dianne - "women" in the Bible are a type of "church", or congregation; hence, the adulterous wife of God in Hosea, and the "woman" in Revelation sitting on the beast....it means an apostasy in religion, and the "bride" is pure and white, meaning the right religion.   Naomi was a "type" of "mother-in-law" to Ruth, therefore a type of Israel and her teachings.   Naomi told the daughters-in-law to go back to their mothers' houses - that is, go back to your pagan religions.......
