"poem: Sky Smile"

The crown of rejoicing is the only one I can count on receiving-- "...unto all them also that love His appearing" ( Timothy 4;8)
I love the summer sky here in Indiana--and it all has to do with the clouds.

Sky Smile

It takes a certain kind of sky,
with clouds like that--
dazzling, ray-streaked towers
of cumulus with just a gap of blue.
I squint at the gap and smile.
It could be--some day it will be--
Just the way He left,
He'll return, in a cloud.
Maybe--that cloud.
Every cloud is a reminder to watch,
Every sky a reason to look up.
Just because yesterday's clouds
were ordinary water-vapor sculptures,
Today's could be the backdrop
for His re-entrance.
From those clouds, a shout:
Come out! Come up! Join us! Join Me!
Let go of earth and fly!

...That is why I watch the sky;
why I smile and watch the sky.
