"Encounter at the Checkout
Stand"
Last year on my way home from church I stopped
at Albertson's to pick up a roasted chicken. I was the only one in
the express line and the woman asked me if I had my Club Card. As
I handed it to her, I said, "I guess they want to keep track of us."
She agreed that must be so and said that she hoped that they did keep their
customers because her job was important to her, especially being able to
get medical coverage, then she begins to tell me that she has a problem
with her heart. She seemed pretty sad about it. As I walked
out I felt compassion for her and began to pray that the Lord would heal
the "problem in her heart" and as I prayed I understood there was another
problem in her heart and I prayed for spiritual healing as well.
This was one of those spirit led prayers and as I finished I had this certainty
that God was going to heal her and I began praising and thanking Him.
Then I heard, "How is she going to know I did it?"
I thought, good point. So I walked back into the
store where she was now busy with several customers and waited near her
out of the way. She recognized me and probably thought I had a problem
with her purchase, but then I said to her, "I can't help you with your
health insurance, but I would like to pray that the Lord will heal your
heart. Would that be all right?" She brightened right up and
affirmed that it would and I left.
I have not seen her since, but the witness of the Spirit
is that it is done.
