"Pineman's 2300 Days of Daniel 8"

Dear Pineman & Doves,

Yesterday, Pineman asked an excellent question on how the 2300 days of Daniel 8 could possibly fit in with Ron Reese’s 2015 timeline, given that we are now less than 1290 days from Christ’s return:

Before beginning on my comments, I must outline that the verses Pineman is referencing, Daniel 8:13-14, are two of the most mysterious verses in the Bible.  These two verses have MANY alternative explanations as per the link below!!  While Pineman’s post makes it appear that the 2300 days HAVE to apply to the final seven years, this is not even close to being a certainty!!

Indeed, based on the commentaries in the website as linked above, you will see that there is CONSIDERABLE controversy on exactly what the 2300 days mean:

1)                Is it code for 2300 years?

2)                Is it 2300 mornings and evenings versus days, meaning a 1150 day period?

3)                Is it 2300 days?

4)                Could it have dual or multiple timings?

There is also CONSIDERABLE controversy over whether it has already been fulfilled or not:

1)                Was it fulfilled with Antiochus?

2)                Is it meant for the end-times?

3)                Is it meant to describe an alternative time period?

4)                Could it have dual meanings or purposes?

If all of these people didn’t know the answer with clarity, how can we trust that Pineman does?  I certainly don’t!!

While researching Pineman’s question, one of the more interesting explanations I picked up on belongs to a man by the name of Adam Clarke.  Adam’s commentary on the Bible is extremely highly regarded, taking Adam over 40 years to complete.  Now THAT is dedication!!  From the above “bible.cc” link, this is what Adam had to say about the 2300 days of Daniel 8.  What makes this VERY interesting is the fact that Adam had written this commentary on these verses over 187 years ago!!

“Unto two thousand and three hundred days - Though literally it be two thousand three hundred evenings and mornings. Yet I think the prophetic day should be understood here, as in other parts of this prophet, and must signify so many years. If we date these years from the vision of the he-goat, (Alexander's invading Asia), this was A.M. 3670, b.c. 334; and two thousand three hundred years from that time will reach to a.d. 1966, or one hundred and forty-one years from the present a.d. 1825.”

Jerusalem was captured by the Jews on June 7, 1967.  June 7, 1967 is part of the 1966/67 Jewish calendar year that Adam is referring to, ending on the Feast of Trumpets 1967.

Now, watch this!!  When you add the 49 years (Jubilee period) of 360 days (God’s counting) to June 7, 1967, it lands DIRECTLY and PRECISELY on the Day of Atonement 2015 (September 23, 2015).  The Day of Atonement is the day of reconciliation and returning to the rightful owner as outlined in Leviticus!!  This is the precise day that Ron has been pointing to for over 3 years now as the day Christ will end the Great Tribulation!!

While I do not know if Adam’s interpretation is correct, there is one thing I know for sure.  The two verses Pineman is referring to cannot and should not be used to refute the timeline of the Lord’s return as outlined by Ron Reese in his excellent website linked as follows:

However, just to show you that no question is a bad question, I certainly learned from this exercise!!  I was not aware of the timing commentary by Adam, one of the most respected Bible scholars, as being yet another helpful goalpost pointing towards understanding the Lord’s 2015 Return Timeline and our VERY SOON redemption!!

BE EXCITED, MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN CHRIST, OUR REDEMPTION DRAWS EXTREMELY NEAR!!

As always, to God be ALL the glory!!!  He is at the door!!  Maranatha!!
