A couple of days after the devastating 9.1 (?) quake in the sea off Japan a volcano named Shinmoe-dake in SW Japan erupted.
 
The distance between the two events is 784 miles as measured on Google Earth.
 
784 = (8+8) x 7 x 7.
 
I thought that was pretty interesting.
