Hi

Shall be praying for your son Darren. It is rather high, and he has to go slow with his exercise at the beginning.  Since he is not happy to get onto BP medication, you can ask him to consider taking Celery tablet, it is a good diureticThe commercial diuretics can cause gout and increase one’s cholesterol, which he cannot afford to take a chance with.  Celery has a ratio of 1:3 of sodium to Potassium salt.  Increase in the intake of potassium does help in bringing down the BP.  The other product is Banana, yet it does have some calorie to think about, orange juice and prunes are good in potassium contents, only make sure it is organic.  But taking celery tablets are the best option. It makes you lose weight, by shedding excess water from your body as well as the high content of Potassium also aids in controlling the BP.  Celery has been used in India for ages as a weight reducing agent it seems.

I, too, have this problem, off and on since ’03, maybe because of premenopausal or what, my GP asked me to take long walks etc at the beginning.  Long walks 20 yrs back helped my mum somewhat, but it did little for me, probably because of the chemtrails and DU that we have in Queensland, Australia (there is Uranium mining going on and the dust comes all over ).  In fact after walking an hour daily for two months,  I did not have any pleasing results.  We went for  a treadmill and doing it indoors was a tremendous help.  Even then sometimes I have to take medication at certain time of the months, maybe for a couple of days.  According to the doctors I am underweight, just 100 lbs, and 5’ 2”, but my cholesterol is a little over the normal, which I don’t bother too much about.

Nowadays with all the spraying and pollution everyone is having this problem.  your son can bring it down a notch or two by doing exercise and switching to organic food.  Pesticide in food does trigger off the BP.  Even the bread, ask him to look for ones without preservatives.  I know over in US most of the food stuff  are GM that could contribute to the immense health problem plaguing the population there.  Here in Australia for a long time we were very wary of GM, but that barrier has been lowered and because of that we go for organic food.  It is very expensive, especially beef ,poultry , dairy food and even wheat flour etc, but sometimes you can’t put a price tag on your health.  Rye bread is supposed to be good, but make sure that it is baked at home or without preservatives. Oats is good for cholesterol.  Even on the topic of cholesterol the jury is out. Some say that having very low cholesterol can be quite damaging, and as long as it is not too high it is ok.  CoQ10 is another one that is being used for BP problem, but I myself have not ventured into that area.  I have asked my GP to read up and see especially for my mum, who is also having BP.  But I am rather reticent about taking something that has not been tested too long.  For instance cholesterol lowering drugs,  one time were supposed to be the magic bullet for curing cholesterol, but now we find that it has such drastic side effects that that the cure is worse than the disease. It is always wise to wait and see before going into uncharted territories.  It is a confusing world we live in, for instance one time the eggs were supposed to be dangerous to your health, now they are asking you to be liberal with the use of it.  Sometimes I wonder whether the studies on egg has really  shown otherwise, or they think it is an easy way to kills with eggs J.  You don’t know whom to believe or what to believe.

I pray that your son would be able to bring it down.  With God all things are possible.  Ask him to get a BP monitor and keep a check of his BP regularly, not just depend on the GP.  Sometimes we all suffer from the white coat syndrome, and it can give a higher reading at the clinic, whereas when we are relaxed at home it is a different story.  Ultimately it is his decision.  If it does not answer after a month or so, he may have to weigh the options and see.  We pray that the Lord will lead him to make the right decision.

Donna, there are still miracles happening so keep on praying.  My son had hernia, and two years back the GP asked him to go for surgery immediately.  He put it off,  for he was hardly 23yrs at that time, and his promotions were coming up and he did not want to jeopardise his chances at work by being laid back on bed for some time.  I took him to a Chinese surgeon(qualified in US) who was more than keen to proceed with it; but then we went to one of the Colo-rectal surgeons, who dealt with my mum in ’05, for a second opinion, and he knowing our reluctance for an OP, gave us time, and when we went to him after 7 months, with all our prayers etc, the surgeon could not find anything wrong at all with my son. This particular surgeon nearly operated on my mum, thinking that she had colon cancer, and at the last minute they found out that the X-ray had mislead them, and cancelled the surgery.  Hence he is used to seeing the Lord work miracles with us.  Praise the Lord, He does hear our prayer!  Normally hernia is something that does not go off by itself, but here it did.  I suspect that my son used to carry his cell phone on that side of the trouser pocket, and the radiation from it could have damaged the tissues etc.  In fact, cell phone upsets my BP too.  If I carry it in my handbag,  turned on for some time, I invariably come home with a splitting headache and my BP goes up.  So much so I am paranoid about keeping the cell phone on at home and have barred my son from keeping it on at work.  Only when he travels and that too when he thinks he absolutely needs it, he switches it on. Further even cordless phones  are no less damaging, try to use land lines as much as possible.  These little precautions can go a long way from keeping us from the doctors and hospitals.
