Dawn, Obama's voting record is deplorable. Hillary's, as the report
says, almost as bad but not quite.McCain's? Is he an option? He may vote pro-life--I believe this is
true, but I have not seen statistics. He is reputed to be staunchly
pro-life.On other issues, he lines up with the unconscionable Bush stands on
economics. He has recently come out in favor of the tax-payer financed
Wall St. "bailout" as a stabilizing of the economy, but he is opposed
to all aid to individuals caught in the mortgage crisis. The ruthless attitude of the present administration, whether it be from
the president himself or from various agencies tenanted by his
appointees, cannot be overlooked in deciding who to vote for (or
whether to not vote at all). Our government should have been
regulating sub-prime mortgages and the famous "hedge" funds of Bear
Stearns and others (including Chelsea Clinton, a hedge fund "expert").
There are those who say that people who took these unwise mortgages
were simply greedy (could be true) but we have to realize that a lot of
these people were among the deliberately dumbed down citizens who are
victims of the present poor educational system. They have been trained
to "trust" the government and/or the banks, and to not read the fine
print. Most of them were hard working people who simply wanted a home
for their families. Many of them now are working two or three jobs per
household member to try to hang on to their homes.McCain would continue this ruthless attitude, it would seem from his
statements, although it's possible he might change some things--one
could hope. He is not widely "approved" by the neocon circle or the
neo-con media, including Coulter, Limbaugh, Hannity, and so forth. So
maybe he would be better than the present administration, and there is
that plus factor for him, very important, that he is pro-life and would
appoint pro-life judges. As for myself, I will still vote in the Republican primary in my state
for Mike Huckabee, who is better on all counts, and will write in
Huckabee's name in the general election, barring some unforeseen
changes. I think that writing in other names would also be a moral
thing to do, as "Ron Paul" or "Duncan Hunter".We really have no good choices at this time, and it is perhaps a sign
of the times that this is so. There is "no exit" from this mess except
through the Almighty's intervention. If the Rapture comes before the
election, all bets are off!Mariel
