Many Christians are wondering what to do about their money in relation to the coming economic collapse. My wife and I have discussed the issue. We feel that, although the collapse has obviously begun already, that we will not be around for the major part of it.Like most Doves, we believe that the Rapture will be happening this Spring. And from what I have heard the "realistic" economic forecasters saying, the economy will continue going down through the summer, with the major part of the collapse happening around September.I believe that we don't have anything to worry about. I believe we will be gone before it affects any of our personal bank accounts. Admittedly, there is a possibility that our banking could begin to be affected before we leave, but no one really knows what could actually occur. Will the Gov't declare a Banking Holiday, forcing all banks to freeze their operations for an indefinite period of time? Or will the dollar fall so far as to become worthless. If we are here for either of these scenarios-- which again, I don't believe we will be--then the first one is the only one we can actually prepare against. Only keep enough money in the checking account to cover bills. And stash the rest. Not in a place that would make it vulnerable to robbery or fire or tornadoes. Somewhere creatively secure. Its up to you.....it depends on what you think the chances are of your bank going under or the Gov't declaring a Banking Holiday before we leave. As for the other scenario, if the dollar becomes worthless, then it doesn't matter where your dollars are.My wife and I are stashing some money just in case the first scenario takes place while we are still here. But that is the extent to which we are even concerned about it. We have no problem whatsoever fully trusting the Lord to take care of us. We are not going to let financial uncertainties interfere with our faith. This economic crisis is something that is happening to the world, and we are not of this world. Even if the Rapture doesn't happen this Spring, we as Believers shouldn't worry about what is happening in the world around us. If its God's plan for us to be here through the major part of the economic crisis, then its also in His plan to provide for us. The worst thing we can do is worry about it!! Not trusting God can only result in our becoming overwhelmed by negative circumstances.Another aspect of this is what effect the Rapture will have on the collapsing economy. If the Rapture happens before the crisis spreads much further, it will trigger an as-of-yet unconsidered (by secular analysts) aspect of the problem. Every dime that every single Christian in the world had possession of will be out there in limbo, until the banks, or more likely the Gov't takes possession of it. My mind boggles at the effect the Rapture will have on the economy, and the world in general. If the Rapture were to happen after the total collapse of the economy, then it would have much less bearing on how financial matters are conducted in the future. I think its safe to say that most Christians own currency is in dollars. And if Christians are still around after the dollar becomes worthless, it will be much easier for America and the world to plan its financial future, since all individual monetary possession can still be accounted for.I wonder if we will be aware of what is going on here in the world following our departure. I think we will. Why would God hide it from us? The purpose of the Tribulation is to glorify Him....why would we not be able to see Him being glorified? We will be in "The Father's House" for approximately 7 years....who knows what all we will be doing during that time. I believe watching God in action will be a big part of it.Anyway, like I said, I am convinced that Jesus will be coming for us this Spring. And we will be witnessing the major part of the economic collapse and the rest of the coming tribulation from Heaven. Let's not worry about our money, or should I say the world's money.....we are just using it temporarily. We are to be looking up in anticipation of our departure, not looking in the bank vaults to see if our money is safe! One other thing I wanted to mention......I know its tempting to rack up a bunch of debt, being persuaded that we are about to leave this world. First of all, I don't believe God would approve of that. It would be a very materialistic thing to do. Second, what if we are miscalculating? What if the Rapture doesn't happen this Spring, or even this year? As much as we may see it as a probability, that doesn't mean that we know for sure. And not only would we displease God by racking up a bunch of debt, we may end up remaining here for an unanticipated while longer and drowning in it.It will be nice to leave what debts we do have behind when we leave. But its wrong to see the Rapture mainly as a release from our financial predicaments. And I can't help but wonder how many Christians who are watching for the Rapture would be doing so as intently if they just won the lottery.
