"Why?"

I wonder how well God's types and shadows would have worked if:

When God said to select a lamb on the 10th day of the first month, the Israelites thought it
would be okay to wait until the 15th day?

When God said to slay the lamb on the 14th day of the first month, the Israelites thought
that they would be better off if each person slew the lamb on a different day?

When God said to take the sheaves of barley to the priest on the morrow after the sabbath,
the Israelites thought it would be okay to take the barley to him the same day they were
going up to the temple to slay the lamb on passover?

I understand that we are under grace and that days are not mandated for us by God.  I wonder how I would feel if my children decided to remember my birthday by having a party on the 4th of July instead of giving me a call on my birthday.

It would make a difference to me.  If the day doesn't matter, why not just go ahead and call it Easter rather than calling it resurrection morning, which it isn't.  What's the purpose of calling it Resurrection Morning?  It isn't.

After all, the Israelites were just looking toward the sun in awe in Ezekiel's chapter eight, right?
No, they were doing so on the day that the pagans were worshipping the sun as a god.

The women were just sitting in the temple courts crying, right?
No, they were weeping during those days that became known as lent, the days that the pagans remembered their 'son of god' being killed by a wild boar.

Why would we want to go through the motions with the pagans?

Where do we individually draw the line and say; 'this is as far as I go and no further'?  Are we going to wait until it's a more important issue?  And, when we get to the more important issue, and we've captiulated on every 'little' thing that has come along up to that point, will we be used to standing up against what is wrong?

It's hard for me to imagine taking a stand against the forces of evil if I can't even stand up for the correct day being used.  Jesus came out of the tomb on Firstfruits, and in doing so He fulfilled the 'set-time' that had been established by YHVH hundreds of years earlier.

I wonder how well God's types would have worked if Jesus had stayed in the tomb for an extra couple of days rest?

Passover will be on the 14th day of the first Israelite month this year, just like it has been every year.  On the 1st day of the week that follows the Israelite saturday sabbath that falls out during that week, God's 'set-time' of Firstfruits will occur.  This year that will be April 27th.  That's the aniversary of the day Jesus arose from the grave; not this coming Sunday.

If we didn't know any better, observing Resurrection Morning this coming Sunday would be a simple matter of observing the wrong day.  Why observe this next Sunday as Resurrection Morning when we know very well when the correct day is?  If we're going to observe it at all, why not do it on the right day?
